HÀ N?I — Vietnamese athletes won two gold medals yesterday in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix 2017 in Jinhua, a prefecture-level city in central Zhejiang Province in eastern China.
Long jumper Bùi Th? Thu Th?o won the first gold with a jump of 6.58m jump in the women’s category and grabbed her first title of the year, also the first for Vi?t Nam in 2017.
Her teammate Quách Th? Lan triumphed in the women’s 400m with a timing of 53.15sec.
Her older brother Quách Công L?ch claimed a silver in the men’s 400m, clocking 47.21sec.
Earlier, Duong Th? Vi?t Anh came second in the women’s high jump with a result of 1.80m.
Elsewhere, young runner Lê Tú Chinh, 19, ranked fourth in the women’s 100m, while Khu?t Phuong Anh finished sixth in the women’s 800m, and Nguy?n Van Hùng was sixth in the men’s triple jump.
Athletes will continue with the second leg in Jiaxing City, also in Zhejiang, on Thursday. — VNS
